Eric Sustad obtained his bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Minnesota, and went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2007. Eric is a member of the Minnesota Bar, working exclusively in immigration matters and FCPA compliance. During law school, Eric volunteered with the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center in Miami, as well as the Volunteer Lawyers Network in Minneapolis. As an immigration attorney, Eric has worked for several large, national firms, as well as run his own practice.
Eric enjoys learning foreign languages. He speaks Spanish and French fluently, as well as conversational Italian, Portuguese, and German. He is literate in several more, including Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia / Malaysia, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Russian, and Swedish.
Eric is a compassionate and empathetic practitioner, with many years of experience working as a journalist, English teacher, and in bars and restaurants prior to law school. His clients find him relatable and a creative lawyer, able to find unusual solutions to novel issues. In addition to languages, he enjoys playing piano, cooking, bicycling, surfing, and traveling in Latin America.
