For the last decade, Ana Marilín “Mari” Garza’s primary areas of practice have been in family law, estate planning, probate, and mediation. A skilled bilingual (English/Spanish speaker) attorney, Mari has served as lead counsel & represented hundreds of parents in both agreed and highly contested cases, including high asset divorces, suits affecting the parent-child relationship, paternity suits, enforcements, modifications, non-parent interventions, adoptions & terminations. She has also served in roles focused on children, including as an Amicus Attorney, Guardian ad Litem, & Attorney ad Litem.
In the realm of probate, she has represented hundreds of applicants in uncontested and contested probates and heirships, including on special issues and arguments concerning putative spouses, will contests, and testamentary capacity.
Mari is also an experienced mediator and has facilitated numerous settlement agreements in private family cases and child protection cases, working with the Department of Family and Protective Services – Child Protective Services in Hays and Caldwell Counties for several years.
Mari’s in-depth knowledge of the Texas Family Code and Texas Estates Code is further prompted by her life-long love of education and teaching. As an Assistant Professor at Texas State University, Mari has lectured for the last five years at the graduate level in the Legal Studies program in the following courses: Advanced Legal Research and Writing, Family Law, Legal Research, Estates & Trusts & Legal Drafting.
